Beetle
I always wanted one of these. A German friend had a VW that she had bought at auction from the German post office; it was painted battleship gray but you could still see the outline of a posthorn and “Deutsche Bundespost” painted on the doors. It was so basic that it didn’t have a fuel gauge, and one day it ran out of gasoline without warning and got stuck half in and half out of a parking space in a garage in Madrid. We pushed it into the space and went off to wherever we were going without worrying about car theft.
