In 1992 it was called the Gay Pride March and it was mostly but not exclusively men marching. Note the women in the background of this photo, which was taken near the end of the march near Sheridan Square.

In 2019 it’s the Pride March, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising,  and it’s larger and more inclusive.
