An amazing sight: two monumental, soaring sculptures of the mythical birds high above the nave of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Morningside Heights. They were made out of discarded construction materials (such as pipes, wheels, gas canisters, hard hats) in Beijing by the Chinese artist Xu Bing. If you live in or near New York, you have until the end of February 2015 to see this installation.
