I love a flea market. This one in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is the epitome of upscale cool and features hip artisanal everything-you-can-imagine: Oriental rugs, handmade jewelry, vintage clothing, baseball cards, unspeakable junk, prices you might not want to inquire about. The food stalls (“Smorgasburg”) offer more ethnic varieties of pork sandwich than you ever dreamed of, but you can get vegan noodles with peanut sauce, ramen burgers, or an $8 chocolate bar if the plant kingdom is more to your liking. The Moroccan bastilla, a sort of savory crepe, was very tasty even though in deference to New York City food regulations it was made with chicken instead of pigeon.
