Halloween Parade, Greenwich Village

Scan-120524-0001-Edit-Edit-Edit-2-Edit

The Halloween Parade in the Village, one of my favorite spectacles in New York and one of the most democratizing. Anyone can march; the only entry qualification is that you have to be wearing a costume. Some of the drag queens prepare for a year in advance for their chance to parade through the streets of the Village in front of thousands of spectators. This year, for the first time in memory, the parade was cancelled due to the blackout following Hurricane Sandy. We are looking forward to ghosts, goblins, skeletons, and drag queens again next year – in other words, normality.
