New York, Then and Now

It’s the same little triangular park formed by Lafayette and Centre Streets just below Spring Street. The viewpoint isn’t exactly the same; the second picture was taken about half a block further north than the first one, 17 years later.

    • In those days, there was no bike parking, and if you did leave your bike somewhere you could either kiss it goodbye or try to buy it back from the bike thief on St. Mark’s Place.
