The classic raindrop shot. It’s been done before, but I love the way the drops act as little lenses and paint bright color on a dreary day.
It’s not really a parade; the tradition dates to the 19th century when well-dressed women emerged from the churches on Fifth Avenue sporting their Easter bonnets for all to admire. Now it’s one of those only-in-New-York street spectacles that attract more tourists and photographers than natives.
The Lunar New Year festivities in Chinatown, New York were celebrated with the traditional drums, lion dancers, and dragon dancers. This year in the Chinese zodiac is the year of the ram, or of the sheep, or of the goat – the Chinese language does not distinguish between sheep and goats, so take your pick. Happy New Year to all our Asian friends.
